The development incorporates a new tower building comprising of 53 levels above ground and 5 basement levels below ground on a vacant lot at 85 Customs Street, refurbishment of the adjacent 12 level building at 101 Customs St. The new main tower is predominantly residential with some office and retail accommodation on the lower floors, as well as 2 levels of above ground parking.
Peddle Thorp is in charge of the architecture of the project and Mott Macdonald is leading the engineering team. Windtech Consultants as sub-contractor to Mott Macdonald has developed the wind engineering. The main objective of this work is to develop, design and implement a vibration control system for the main building so as to achieve the performance required for both serviceability and ultimate states. A compliant design is proposed, as to eliminate any interference with the architectural layout and the project schedule.
